Dynamic modulus kit (NCHRP 9-29)

IMG_8607km_TNDynamic Modulus Test is dynamic loading on cyclindrical asphalt specimens based on the National Cooperative Highway Research Program (NCHRP) Project 9-29. A specimen, at a specific test temperature and confining pressure, is subjected to controlled sinusoidal (haversine) compressive stress loading at various test frequencies between 0.01Hz and 25Hz. The applied stress, confining pressure, temperature and resulting axial strain from three on-specimen displacement transducers are measured as a function of time and then used to calculate the dynamic modulus, phase angle, average temperature, average confining pressure and a number of data quality measurements.

Dynamic modulus values measured over a range of temperatures and frequencies of loading can be shifted into a master curve for characterizing asphalt concrete for pavement thickness design and performance analysis.
